Resident electricity use

ONCE AGAIN - RESIDENT USE OF CIELITO POWER - 27 July 10

Resident use of Cielito power has always been stated as being for low usage, (below 5 amps). This will work items such as TV, lights, battery charger etc.

High usage items, such as freezers, refrigerators, pumps, washing machines, microwave ovens, electric fry pans etc are now being used on Cielito power with the result of residents using more power than Cielito.

The small Onan generator will not support this. The larger generator burns more diesel to do so. The larger generator costs about $50dlls daily to operate for 10 hours and the Onan is $20 for 7 hours daily, for a total cost of $70dlls daily for power from 7:30am to midnight. Cielito averages about $15dlls daily income from resident electricity payments.

Almost all residents could be on Cielito power for these 17 hours if all were to observe the low usage requirements. The operating cost of the large generator would come down as it would not work as hard.

Presently, 6 residents have high usage and are preventing this from happening.

I urge all residents to comply with the low use requirements anytime they are on Cielito power so we may all benefit from that power.

RESIDENTS ELECTRIC POWER EXAMPLES
Using the below items, in green, at your site, you can have an electric system approaching USA power for $1055dlls, using Cielito's generator. For $644 (2 less batteries and the 3000watt inverter) you can still have a very good system. To go cheaper, buy a smaller inverter and have a system for $444dlls. To be even cheaper than that, you will have to be very selective in your power use. About the cheapest will be the items in red for $220, good for lights and a TV. Figure on $10,000 dlls and up for a total solar system. Residents will not be allowed to use Cielito power,as has been continously stated, to run items other than lights, tv, battery charger. This policy allows all residents to have better Cielito power and for longer periods (hopefully).
